Noise Flash Diversionary Device Instructor

All sworn first responders from state, federal, or local agencies.

Description

This course will provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to instruct their department members in the deployment of diversionary devices.

  • Students must pass a written final exam and a practical application presentation
Equipment List

Required Equipment:

  1.  Bring a laptop, tablet, or other device to develop a presentation in addition to a flash drive.
  2. Successfully run drills under the supervision of an instructor.
  3. Conduct a 10 to 15-minute presentation on an assigned diversionary device topic.
  4. Pass a 25 questions final exam with a minimum score of 80%.
  5. Bring five (5) agency-issued diversionary devices.
  6. Bring deployable tactical gear, including a vest, helmet, hearing protection, clear eyes, BDU-style uniform, and fire-retardant gloves.
Class Schedule

Class starts at 8:00 AM. Training days are 8 hours long. There will be a classroom portion, but the majority of the time will be spent on the range.

Medical

If you are allergic to bees, outdoor plants, or animals, please bring your epinephrine pen or other medication.

Life-threatening allergies and pre-existing injuries or conditions must be reported to the OTOA training staff on day one of training.

Lodging, Travel, and Meals

Attendees are responsible for their ammunition, lodging, transportation, and food.

All tactics, techniques, or technologies presented at any OTOA advanced training or annual training conference must be implemented in accordance with the United States Constitution, the Ohio Revised Code, and the policies and procedures of the student’s employing law enforcement agency.
