ELIGIBILITY

This course is ideal for SWAT team leaders, supervisors, law enforcement leaders, and anyone responsible for organizing, training, or deploying sniper teams.


DESCRIPTION

Police snipers play a critical role in tactical team operations, yet they are often underutilized or misunderstood. The success of a sniper program is directly influenced by the command staff responsible for its development and oversight. This two-day intensive course is designed to equip sniper team leaders, supervisors, and other law enforcement leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to establish, train, and manage an effective and safe sniper program.

Whether you're selecting personnel, designing a training regimen, or making mission-critical decisions, this course provides a comprehensive understanding of the role, function, and limitations of police snipers. Participants will gain the insight needed to create sniper programs that are efficient and aligned with the highest standards of operational safety and effectiveness.

IMPORTANT: Due to recent events and out of an abundance of caution, with the safety of our members, student officers, and instructors being paramount; the SIG 320 pistol and its variant models will no longer be allowed for carry or use, nor may it be present in or during any OTOA event or program, until such time as to the issue of safety has been resolved to our satisfaction.

MEDICAL

  • If you are allergic to bees, outdoor plants, or animals, please bring your epinephrine pen or other medication.
  • Life-threatening allergies and pre-existing injuries or conditions must be reported to the OTOA training staff on day one of training.

LODGING, TRAVEL & MEALS

Students are responsible for their lodging, transportation, and food.


All tactics, techniques, or technologies presented at any OTOA advanced training or annual training conference must be implemented in accordance with the United States Constitution, the Ohio Revised Code, and the policies and procedures of the student’s employing law enforcement agency.
