The Ohio Tactical Officers Association (OTOA) is a nonprofit, professional police association dedicated to providing training to police officers in the state of Ohio and its surrounding areas. We also provide networking opportunities and communication links to law enforcement tactical operators, tactical teams and first responders.
Our mission is to provide educational resources, information sharing opportunities and advanced tactical training to enhance overall situational awareness and preparedness on all levels.
The organization currently has over 4000 members across Ohio and neighboring states, and is led by a board of directors who strive to keep those member’s needs in mind.
For more than 30 years, the Ohio Tactical Officers Association has provided affordable and standardized tactical training resources for police officers.
Through the annual training conference, monthly newsletters, magazine and website, the OTOA has created a forum for the free exchange of information, ideas and tactics. Encouraging communication and mutual support among law enforcement agencies across the globe is vital to our success.
This non-profit organization is run by an elected board, consisting of members from Ohio Police Departments and tactical teams, who volunteer their time and expertise. The OTOA has grown from an obscure group of a few dozen tactical officers, to a dynamic organization of over 4000 members. The Operator magazine has been the communication tool for the association since the early 1990’s, and is currently distributed to membership in 26 states and 2 foreign countries.
Collaboration is the key to success. In 2009, the OTOA and PATOA (Pennsylvania Tactical Officers Association) began to collaborate with the Operator. This has expanded the distribution level and influence in the Midwest Region of the US.
The Operator is, for the most part, designed, edited and written by full-time police officers who are members of SWAT units in Ohio, and who volunteer their time to produce the publication.
The OTOA has grown exponentially over the past three years. We invite you as a manufacturer or distributor to take part in our efforts to promote a life- saving concept through training and education.
ABOUT OUR PUBLICATION AND STAFF
OTOA is a non-profit organization, and The OPERATOR is designed, edited, and for the most part, written by full-time police officers who are members of Special Weapons and Tactics Units in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The current primary, editorial staff consists of personnel from The OTOA.
The OPERATOR actively seeks articles which would be of interest to our membership, and we encourage manufacturers and dealers to submit articles to the magazine describing the testing and evaluation of new equipment for tactical operations, particularly when the equipment or product test has been conducted by an Ohio law enforcement agency. In addition, we will arrange for active duty SWAT officers to test and prepare product evaluation articles for SWAT equipment or products.
We are aware that many of the companies that manufacture and supply SWAT related products, and most that provide SWAT related training, are staffed by current and former SWAT and military special operations personnel who may wish to provide articles for publication. We will also gladly accept these articles for review
and possible publication.
