OTOA Life Saving Award

The OTOA wants to acknowledge tactically minded first responders who exhibit commitment, expertise, enthusiasm, and/or valorous actions.

Any person can nominate an individual or group who qualifies for recognition under the below criteria.

An awards committee selected by the OTOA board of directors will make the final decisions regarding the awards.


OTOA Life Saving Award presented to the officer(s) who put themselves at risk of serious physical harm in order to save another officer/citizen's life who is in imminent danger of death.

This award could be presented for actions such as saving someone's life during a high risk operation, pulling someone out of a burning building/car, keeping someone from jumping off a building or being struck by a vehicle, saving someone from drowning. This award would be presented to officers who placed themselves at risk of serious physical harm in order to save a life.


All nominations must include the following: 

  •     Officers Full Name.
  •     Department / Agency.
  •     SWAT Team assigned.
  •     Documentation of the event; Synopsis of the event in the body of an email or an attached Word document.
  •     A contact person to verify the event, actions or conduct.
